3. The Penalties Points System
As the CARS venue is a gentlemanly, casual race series, it is not anticipated that any form of official negative points system is necessary, unless imposed under Rule 9 (see below). Penalties, if necessary, will consist of restrictions on qualifying/participation or points deduction and shall be initialized and applied on a case by case basis. Penalties or sanctions can be the result of either an upheld Protest or by discretion of the CARS Administrators.
We will not publicly post these penalties. The reason for this is that our intention is to run a smooth and good running series. We are not out to embarrass someone. There is no need to put this information in public.
4. Teams
Team competitions will occur in a season if decided beforehand by the Admins, sometimes the Teams' composition are left to drivers' choice, while at other times the teams are made up by pairing drivers based on points finishing average from the previous season. For example, the (participating) driver with the highest finishing point average gets teamed with the (participating) driver with the lowest finishing point average. Then the second highest points finishing average driver gets paired with the second to the lowest points finishing average driver, and so forth.
5. Car Number Selection
CARS drivers may use any vehicle number they wish as long as it is not being used by another driver in the series. New drivers should check the CARS "Drivers List" to see which numbers are already in use. The number 3 has also been retired in the Cup Series in memory of Dale Earnhardt Sr.
6. Attendance
If you can't attend a race, you may ask for LPPs ( Last Place Points). The first thread in the CARS section of the MNRL Forum is to be used to ask for LPPs for an event. See Administrator for details on number of points awarded for LPPs. Unexcused Absence = No notification at all to the CARS Administration.
7. Settings and Setups
CARS is a fixed setup series using a special build of the LM70 mod for rFactor. Each fixed setup will be found in the forum (look for the current season?s ?Driver?s Guide?). When a server password is used for a race weekend, it will be within the Race Announcement emailed weekly to participants; it is the responsibility of each driver to remember the password.
8. Cautions Caused and Accidents Under Yellow
As CARS consists entirely of road races, no full course cautions are used but local cautions will be used when available.8a.Celebrations and Wrecking.
Post race celebrations and wrecks are not endorsed by the CARS administrators and are done at one?s own risk. Be aware that if drivers do not heed this warning and something does go wrong, the games Official Standings WILL NOT be changed so act foolish at your own risk.
9. Protests and Penalties
A member may protest an accident or the behavior of another member at the conclusion of the race. They may send in a protest up to 48 hours after the race is completed. The protesting member must submit a clipped replay of the incident to the CARS administration. Upon receipt of the protest, the CARS Protest Committee will review the incident and levy any penalties deemed necessary. Members may file unlimited protests per season.
Penalties will result in participation sanctions or point deductions, depending on the severity and nature of the infraction. If a member accrues multiple penalties, he/she may be subjected to suspension.
A replay must accompany the protest or the protest will not be reviewed by the administration. In special circumstances, where the member cannot retrieve the replay, the member then must supply enough information for the administration to review.
When a protest is received from a driver we will also ask the other driver involved to send in his or her replay as well. The reason we will do this is simple. Most of the incidents can be determined who's at fault pretty easily, but in the case where it is a close call, being able to see the exactly what each driver is doing with the gas and the brakes could help us determine the outcome. So if your not already doing it, start saving your replays! It could possibly save you some points in the end.
10. Chatting for Team Speak and In Game
All drivers are strongly encouraged to use TeamSpeak!! The rules governing chat will depend on what session the race is in.Practice Session:
Chat as much as you want.
Qualifying Session:
Absolutely no chatting allowed. Any congratulatory remarks (such as GL, NL, congrats, etc.) should be made after the Warm-Up session begins. Any chatting before the Warm-Up session begins will be considered a violation.
Drivers Meeting:
After Qualifying a Drivers' Meeting is held to discuss the particulars of a race and answer question. NO chatting or taking to the track until after the Admin has announced that the Drivers' Meeting is over.
Warm-Up Session:
Chat as much as you want.
Race Session:
The use of chat should be limited to Auto Chat only, with the exception of relaying important race related information that the Auto Chat does not cover (Example: "I lost 3rd gear, Wreck in turn 2."). IF THERE IS A MONITOR, ONLY RACE RELATED INFORMATION SHOULD BE RELAYED TO THE MONITOR, ABSOLUTELY NO CHATTING WITH THE MONITOR.
During the race, please limit extraneous chats and Team Speak that can be avoided. Such chatting is very disruptive to drivers that are still racing. Please hold congratulatory remarks until all drivers have finished the race.
The chat rules also apply to members who use Team Speak. Members will not be allowed to use Team Speak during the Qualifying Session and they may not be allowed to use Team Speak during green flag runs, unless it is race related. If a member is found to break this rule, the Admin may assess a penalty to that member during or after the race.
11. Lucky Dog
CARS has no lucky dog feature.
12. Race Starts
CARS uses the built-in standing start feature of rFactor for beginning races.
13. Restarts and Time Schedule
There are no restarts. By 8:00 PM ET the server will be open for practice. At 8:25 PM Eastern time, Sprint race qualifying will begin. When Qualifying is over, a Drivers Meeting will occur, followed by a 5 minute Happy Hour. The Sprint race will start at the end of Happy Hour. Once the server is reset following the Drivers Meeting, everything is set in motion, and we will not stop for any reason. (After the sprint finishes, the server is reset for the Enduro, with 10 minutes of practice, then Qualifying and a 5 minute HH before the Enduro) So please be ready! When the race session begins, each driver has a small window of time to make setup changes and get into his racecar. Members who "fall through" right before the race session starts, will not have the server restarted for them nor will they receive their laps back from the Admin. The member may choose to join the server and they will be allowed to race but no lost laps shall be restored in the race or in the finishing result.
14. Lapped Traffic
On occasion, some members may be lapped by the field.
When the leader catches a member who is still on the lead lap, but is in jeopardy of going 1 lap down, that member is allowed to race the leader to stay on the lead lap, unless the lapped car is damaged and is considerably slower than the leader.
When the leader catches a member who is already 1 or more laps down, the lapped car is required to move to yield the low line to ALL cars on the lead lap. Lapped cars may also go to the low-side on straightaways, or use the apron to give room to the lead lap cars.
Members one or more laps down must not block the lead lap cars. It is the responsibility of the passing car to make a clean safe pass. If a lapped car blocks a lead lap car, then the lapped car may receive a black flag from the Admin.
In the event the lapped car CANNOT move to the high-side for the leader, due to traffic, the lapped member will be required to move to the high-side as soon as safely possible.
A Lapped car DOES NOT have to move for lead lap cars if the lapped car is racing for position. Lead lap cars must not "make a hole" simply because they are faster. Lead lap cars are required to wait for the lapped cars to finish battling for their position. Once the lapped cars are finished racing for position, they must allow the lead lap car to pass.
ALSO WATCH YOUR MIRROR AND BE AWARE! Let people lapping you pass by holding your line and speed, and gently easing off the gas on a straight and pulling low off the line. DO NOT SLOW DRASTICALLY!
15. Blocking
Blocking is not allowed at any time during the race. If a member is caught blocking, the will be warned that they are blocking. If the blocking continues, then the member will be given a black flag. Blocking shall be defined as anytime you run an abnormal line in order to block a pass or make a sudden line change in order to block another car from passing. Drivers are encouraged to use the three mirror system in rFactor and the available spotter plug ins to help them race safer with other drivers.15a. Group Qualifying
Blocking during group qualifying is not allowed. Drivers must realize a pass that might be prudent in the give and take nature of a race will not always be smart in a qualifying session. If a slower car is caught during qualifying by a faster car, the slower car is asked to give the faster car room to pass when there is space to safely complete the pass. A faster car must use prudent moves when approaching a slower car even at the cost of sacrificing a fast lap.
16. Flaming
Flaming is absolutely not tolerated. A member who is flaming will first receive a Black Flag. If the Flaming persists, then the Admin will eject the member.
Flaming is defined as any racial slur, insult, abuse, swearing at or harassment of another driver or Admin. This also applies to "WTF", "WTH", and even "TY" when used in a negative way.
17. Intentional or Malicious Incidents
Incidents that are deemed intentional or malicious will be subject to penalty and can result in immediate removal from the league.
18. Warping
We all understand that warping is a part of online racing and that a driver who is warping badly really can't do anything to prevent the warp from happening. However, The MNRL is tasked with providing the entire league with a relatively hazard free racing environment. Therefore, the following procedures will be followed when dealing with warp issues. During the Practice Session: If other members and/or the race monitor notice a car that is warping excessively, that member may be asked to skip the qualifying round and start in the back of the field, in order to ensure a clean start.During the Race Session:
If other members and/or the race monitor notice a car that is warping excessively, the following situations will apply: The member of the warping car may be asked to reduce speed and proceed as safely as possible to the apron of the track, maintaining a safe speed along the apron until that car regains a stable connection. In extreme circumstances, the member of the warping car may be asked to park his/her car and sit out the rest of the race. This would only be done if the problem persists and after all other options are exhausted.
19. Passing not using Track Surface
Passing by leaving the track surface is forbidden and may incite a black flag. Passes are not to be made by moving to the berm, dirt, or other surface not easily recognized as belonging to the track racing configuration. A driver may occasionally accidentally leave the track surface proper due to overdriving, etc. Such maneuvers are not infractions as long as they do not result in the driver's gaining position or ground on any other driver. If a driver gains a position in the manner, the only way to avoid penalty is to give back the position gained as soon as possible.
20. Server Handles
In order to avoid confusion, MNRL / CARS requires that all drivers login in to races with a handle that represents their real name.
21. In Conclusion
We are all here to have a good time. In order to get respect you must also give respect. Please keep in mind that the ages of our drivers range from 13 years old to ...well really old male and female drivers, so please act accordingly, if you would not want your child to read something on screen or be treated in a bad matter please keep it in mind before you act in a matter unfit and just treat everyone as you yourself would like to be treated.
Thank You,
The Administration of The MNRL
